In this week’s Gospel, John tells us that God sent his Son into the world so that the world might be saved. Jesus brings light to illuminate our path and show us the way to live a richer life culminating in an eternity in Heaven. However, Jesus leaves us free to choose to live in the light or to hide in the darkness. Mathew tells us that Jesus said, “No one can serve two masters”. We need to choose what is important to us. We live in the darkness when we refuse to follow his lead and choose sin. The reality of life is that we all have some darkness in our lives, no one is perfect. Each one of us has done things that we would prefer to keep hidden.  Therefore, we need to be watchful and look for ways to follow the path of Jesus. During the Easter Vigil service, the priest will raise the lighted pascal candle three times singing “The light of Christ has come into the world.” Will you allow the light of Christ into your world and to lead you in your daily life?
